- ICW Radiators -

ICW radiator

Product: ICW Radiators

ICW Bike Stands is a family owned business located in Clayton, North Carolina. All of our products are made in the USA, which allows us to build and control the quality of our product. While ICW started out making, and is mostly recognized for our bike stands, we also offer radiator repair and modifications for all bike radiators. Several top professional race teams depend on ICW radiator modifications, to improve performance and durability to their race machines. ICW supports MX Teams; such as, BBMX Racing, Star Racing, BSY Racing, Team Rally Pan America, and many more top Pro and amateur riders. ICW radiators have helped many of these teams, to put their bikes on the podium, in the sport of professional SX and MX. ICW has also helped amateurs all over the country, in winning countless amateur national titles and championships. We also offer an oil cooling system for select models which stops over heating and the loss of power.

BBMX Team Review:

We have been with ICW since we were amateur riders ourselves, and they make a great product. The time and effort Brett (ICW owner) puts into his products is unbelievable, he does everything himself, by hand. The stands have always been a top notch product and have continued to improve. I think he started repairing and improving the radiators right around the time we started the race team, and we thought, what a great idea! Not only does this save people like us time and money replacing radiators, but it can also improve the performance of the bikes. The modifications ICW makes not only improves the strength and durability of the radiator, but it also adds more coolant capacity, which helps the bikes run cooler. At many of the outdoor nationals, you will always find a handful of bikes overheating and not finishing the motos, this frequently includes factory race bikes and other top level teams. We are proud to say that we have yet to have one overheating breakdown, over the past 4 race seasons, thanks to ICW radiator mods. "There is not a doubt in my mind that ICW radiators help our race bikes stay cool" says team owner and manager, Forrest Butler. The ICW Radiators have been race proven by BBMX for sure!

ICW radiators are on every BBMX race bike.

With just a few quick point & clicks, the ICW Radiators, along with all ICW products, are available to you directly at your finger tips. Please check out the ICW Bike Stands link below for a full list and description of everything ICW has to offer. "Rain...Rain...go..away..."

The dark clouds surround the Rice-Eccles stadium Saturday morning.

Updated 8:30am -
As the season draws closer to the end of the 17 race season, round 16 of the AMA supercross series visits the great Salt Lake City in Utah.  This will be the first time in 5 years that the roar of the AMA Supercross series rolls into the SLC.  With the snow capped mountains in the in the staduim background, the weather report is showing rain in the forcast for today's race, and as I look from the lounge of the BBMX semi, the dark menecing clouds are surrounding the Rice-Eccles stadium. If the weather does decide to come in, it will make the already tight points chase in both classes that much more interesting.

BBMX riders Jason Thomas, Kyle Keylon and team newcommer Ben Lamay are ready to take to the SCL track.

Ben Lamay spent this last week getting more familiar with his new DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX CRF250.  He tested all week at a private track up near our WPS/Fly Racing sponsors headquarters.  He is feeling very comfortable and confident about this weekend's race.
"Obviously I didn't have a lot of time to test last weekend in Seattle, so it was very good I had all week to try new things and get the bike the way I like" says an excited Lamay.

JT$ is again riding his CRF450R race bike.  After returning to the 450 class in Seattle last week, JT says the bike is way better than earlier in the season, and is having fun on the big bike again. Look for JT to put in a spirited ride this weekend and to not fade as JT's been kicking his morning workout routine the day of the race into full force.

Kyle Keylon is set to take on the 450 class again on his 250F. Kyle has been the only Lites rider attempting to run with the 450s this season.  When asked why he does it? "Just for fun" he says.  Keylon is looking to make the main tonight, as this is his last night for him to be the first Lites rider to make a 450 main on a Lites bike.

As of right now, practice will get underway at 12:30, unless the officials decide the weather is not cooporating, then we will be put on the 'weather schedule' much like A3 was earlier this year.  As always, be sure to log on here to butlerbrothersmx.com for the news on and off the track here in Salt Lake.

Updated 12pm - With the tarps being pulled off right before track walk, track crews are still working hard to displace the water that did get on the start straight and lower areas of the track.  The track soil looks good, though not the soft soil we had in Seattle one week ago. Look for the racing to be tight and intense if the weather holds out. It's a tight track that looks like will reward aggressive moves.  Check out a few shots of the track from the track walk below:

Updated 2:45 - As practice session comes to a close, BBMX riders Ben Lamay,Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon are sitting well into the field.  Lites rider Ben Lamay sits in the 26th qualified position. Ben is struggling with the track conditions and the loss of power from the high altitute here in Salt Lake.  Ben and mechanic Taylor Butler will go back and get things dialed in for the second practice session.

In the 450 class, BBMX riders Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon took to the track just as a wave of rain blanketed the Rice-Eccles Stadium.  JT sits in the 27th qualified position, while Keylon is in the 32nd spot.  No doubt both riders will move up after second practice.

In the Lites class, Ryan Dungey sits on top of the grid followed by Jake Weimer and Trey Canard.
In the 450s, James Stewart sits on top, with Ryan Villopoto in second and Ivan Tedesco in the third spot.  Chad Reed is down in the 4th spot right now and looked to not be as smooth as his normal self.

James Stewart tops the qualifying charts early in practice one.

The sky has been grey all morning and early afternoon.  During the 450 practice sessions, the skies opened up and a light shower moved across the stadium for the length of the 450 practice.  It is cold out there,  and the temperature will only drop as the night show approaches.

Practice session two is set to go off here in a half hour.  Log back in after practice two for the action on and off the track.
-CW
Update 3:45pm - As the rain starts to fall more, practice session two was called off due to the rain.  Racing will go off normal time though at 7pm, rain or shine.

With practice session two canceled, the stage is set for the night show.  Ben Lamay is in the 26th qualifying position in the Lites class while Jason Thomas is 27th and Kyle Keylon 32nd in the 450 class.

Updated 10:30pm - BBMX rider Ben Lamay overcame a last place start in heat race number one of the Lites class to finish in 9th place and a spot in the Lites main event.  Ben rode well, battling with Mike Lapaglia for the 9th place.  In the 450s, both Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon could not battle back from back of the pack starts.  Both would have to go to the LCQ.

In the LCQ, JT would rocket out of the gate and would come out of the first turn in second.  A few bobbles in the whoops would let a few riders pass JT for the transfer spot.  JT would hold on for 4th, but just shy of a spot in the 450 main.  Kyle would suffer a bad start and could not move up, thus ending his night in 13th and campaign in the 450 class.

Ben would line up on the second to last gate on the far outside.  As the gate dropped, Ben would tangle with the rider to his right and would end up at the first turn at the back of the pack.  Ben could not move up through the field, though managing a 17th finishing position.

In both the Lites and the 450s, major battles broke out for the lead.  The lites class saw Trey Canard take the win after passing Jake Weimer and Ryan Dungey for the lead.  Dungey would finish second, and would take the West coast Lites championship over third place Weimer.

In the 450s, Chad Reed blasted into the lead at the start, with James Stewart right behind him.  Both riders would exchange the lead a few times as the crowd went wild.  Then, with Stewart in the lead and Reed right behind them, they would both be lapping Stewart's teammate Kyle Chisolm.  In one of the bowl turns, Reed went high to pass the Chisolm, but Chisolm decided to turn his handlebars and ram right into Reed!  Reed bobbled as Chisolm went down, but the damage was done.  Reed could not come back from the Chisolm's blatent take out move and fell back to around 3 seconds.  That gave the lead and win solidly to Stewart.

One of the many passes for the lead between James Stewart and Chad Reed. James Stewart would take the win here in Salt Lake

As the teams pack up and wash the mud off the bikes, the series packs it up and heads to the final round of the AMA Supercross series in Las Vegas, NV.  Vegas is sure to be a barnburner in both classes, as the Lites East-vs-West showdown is going to be exciting and the championship in the 450 class will be decided.  Join us next weekend for round 17 of the AMA supercross series in Vegas here on www.butlerbrothersmx.com.  Remember, keep it pinned and grab the holeshot!

The Butlerbrothersmx team is set up and getting things ready for round 16 of the AMA Supercross series here   Salt Lake City, UT.  The mechanics are preparing the bikes for tomorrow's race.  The weather, while it is not raining like the weather channel said it would, it is defiantly not sunny either. Let's hope the rain holds off this weekend and we have a clean race. Check out a few photos below of the BBMX pit area from Friday afternoon.

This week's host for the Smith Optics Track Walk is SPEED TV and CBS Color Commentator Jeff Emig. Jeff was the 1997 250 AMA Supercross Champion and a three-time motocross champion.

Hey supercross fans, welcome to the Smith Optics Track Walk for round 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah, home of the Utes. We have dodged some bullets this year when it comes to rain/mud races, but we’re going to have to be like Keanu Reeves in the matrix to get away from it this weekend. Which, if you have a passion for this type of motor racing, like I do, you can’t wait to get there and see how it all goes down. This could be the most important race of the year. And remember, the fuel-injected bikes perform very well at high altitude and in extremely wet situations. This could be a game changer. With both supercross championships so tight, you wont want to miss this one live. For those of you that can’t make it Saturday night, Ralph, Erin, and myself will bring you all the action on CBS Sunday morning and SPEED Sunday afternoon. Of course, check your local listings for times.

BBMX Weekly Product Highlight - Applied Racing- Factory Clamp Kits

- Applied Racing- Factory Clamp Kits -

 Applied Factory race clamps

Product: Applied Racing- Factory Clamp Kits

The most noticeable difference is the weight (or lack of)!. Compared to the stock upper and lower clamp set, our set is almost 5/8 of a pound lighter!!!. Overall the clamp is slightly V shaped. We have rounded the edges near the pinch bolts and added some new styling as well. As usual, much time and effort was made by engineers and testers at Applied to make this our best triple clamp yet. Machining radiuses on the underside around all the bores were greatly increased for even more strength and durability. Fork bores are precision machined for a perfect fit and greater clamping surface. Bar mounts are reversible to allow for stock bar position or a more forward position. Optional height bar mounts are available. See our 22mm Factory sets on Team DNA ENERGY / BTO SPORTS /BUTLER BROTHERS bikes in 2009! Applied clamps are made in the USA in our own facility and have a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.

BBMX Team Review:

We have been with Applied for four years now and they make a great product. The time and precision that are put into these clamps is unparallel. In four years we haven't had one problem, not one break, one crack, or one stripped bolt. We have been in this sport for a long time and its hard to find a product that is that durable, especially when your dealing with triple clamps. The amount of stress and pressure put onto triple clamps is tremendous, its hard to find a product that can withstand the amount of wear and tear our guys can put on them, especially at this level. The Applied Racing Factory Clamps have been race proven by BBMX for sure!

He had a great heat race holding off Nick Wey to finish a solid seventh, then put in a good charge from behind for a 15th place in the main event. Keylon put in some great rides in the big class, and looks to be closer than ever to making his first 450 m ain event. Lamay put in some very impressive rides for his new team, qualifying for the night show in 12th place overall, but some nervous mistakes and bad starts cost him a spot in the main event. Ben Lamay is the newest addition to BBMX, he will be finishing out the remainder of the SX season and continuing with the team throughout the MX series. DNA Energy Drink/BTO Sports.com/BBMX Team Smells like Teen Spirit at the Seattle SX.

Seattle, WA- After a week off to look for Easter eggs, the AMA supercross series resumed in the home of the grunge movement, a giant needle and a track that reminded us of last week’s Easter pudding. We also should mention that this week we picked up a new rider for the last three supercrosses and his name is Ben Lamay. It seems that Shaun Skinner is going to be out for a while and we needed a rider named Ben who is from Alaska to take his place. Lamay seemed fit that criteria, so welcome aboard Ben!

With very little time to adapt to our 250F, Ben put in a decent showing but missed the main event. He was two short in the heat race and in the LCQ he was also two short. We think he might need to grow a bit to make the main but what do we know? In all seriousness though, Ben qualified 13th fastest out of practice and had his hands full being that his first ride on the bike (and a Honda CRF250f for that matter) was in the first practice session.  Not bad for only 30 mins on the bike in a tough top 20 field of Lites riders.

Our two east coast 250 riders, Kyle “St Pete for life” Keylon and Jason “The Rolling Tank” Thomas both moved up to the big boy 450 class and had mixed results. Keylon couldn’t make it in despite the soft, sandy track which was eerily reminiscent of the St Petersburg national where his dad, Kenny, won in 1982. Apparently, sand skills aren’t passed down (at least not in SX for Kyle’s sake).

So just like Jacksonville, our man JT$ held the fort down and made the 450 main event with a strong ride in the heat and eventually he finished fifteenth in a stacked class. We’re proud of Kyle and Ben but we’re really happy with Jason. He gets the gold star and a case of DNA Energy drink!

The BBMX pit area in Seattle with Quest field in the background.

The AMA supercross series picks back up after the Easter weekend break, with round 15 visiting the Pacific Northwest at Quest field in Seattle, WA.  With only three rounds left, the title chase is coming down to the wire for both the West coast Lites and the 450 class.  The West coast lites are back from their 8 week hiatus to finish their season.

The BBMX team took the weekend off to gain much rest and relaxation, regroup and come out swinging for the last three rounds.  Jason Thomas will be back on the 450s for the remaining three rounds.  While JT$ has shown some good rides in the Lites class, he is ready to get back to the 450s.  Kyle Keylon will be back on on his 250F, but will be trying once again to be the only 250F to make the main event.  Keylon has almost made the 450 main in the past, so look for him to be on it this weekend. Kyle finished the Lites east championship 18th in points.

BBMX rider Shaun Skinner has decided to sit out the rest of the season due to complications suffered from the San Francisco round.  If you remember, Skinner was landed on and suffered a cucussion.  He has suffered through the injury, but has not healed 100%.  Head injuries are no joke, and wish Shaun a healthy recovery and return.

The big news of the team this weekend is that Ben Lamay has joined the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX squad for the last three remaining rounds of supercross.  The Butlerbrothersmx team has always been about giving up-and -coming riders a chance to show their skills in the big leagues and with Skinner taking time off, it was a good opportunity to bring on a rider that has been working hard all year to show what they have.

Ben is eager and excited to be a part of the Butlerbrothersmx team.  "I'm excited to be a part of the Butlerbrothersmx team and to show the team what I can do" Ben exclaimed as he was working with mechanics to set his bike up.

Another view of Lamay's new ride.
Lamay's new ride.

Team Manager Forrest Butler is also excited about having Ben join the team. "Ben has shown a lot of promise this year and with Skinner taking time off to heal, it is a great opportunity to give an up-and-coming rider a chance to show their potential" says Forrest Butler.

With only two rounds left, it has come down to the wire and the heated battle between Jake Weimer and Ryan Dungey is sure to go down to the final race next week in Salt Lake.  The 450 class is equally heated, if not more between James Stewart and Chad Reed.  The Jacksonville round was witnessed to a drop down, no holds barred battle between the two title contenders, with Stewart edging out Reed, but not without some bar banging.  All indications show that both riders are not going to back down and will do what it takes to win the 2009 AMA supercross championship.

Seattle in the past has proven weather wise, to be unconsistant.  We have had everything from torrential downpour mud races to dry fast races.  This weekend is looking to be ther later, as the weather report is sunny skies for the weekend.  Early track reports are saying the dirt will be very loamy and looks to be like Toronto.

Updated 12pm - With track walk done, the riders are getting ready to take to the track for the first time this afternoon here at Quest Field.  The track looks very soft and look svery much like the soil we had in Toronto earlier this year.  Look for the track to get rutted and deteriorate quickly. There are a few tricky sections that will give the riders some issues, but overall the track looks to be very good. Below are a few track photos from track walk.

The Whoops.

Practice is set to get underway here at 12:30pst.  Log back in for photos and news from practice session one.

-CW

Updated 3:15pm - With practice sessionj one finished, BBMX riders Ben Lamay, Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon are sitting firmly in the field.  Team newcommer Ben Lamay used practice session one to familiarize himself with his new BBMX CRF250R, and put himself in the 24th fastest rider in the lites class.  In the 450s, Jason Thomas looks as though he never left the class, placing himself in the 19th qualifying position.  Kyle Keylon is sitting in the 26th qualifying spot, but looks to be improving as the sandy track is suiting his style.  Look for Kyle to move up a few spots in the next session.

Ben is looking good on the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX ride. He's working with the mechanics to tweak the bike a little more to suit his riding style.  Look for Ben to also move up a few qualifying positions.

Ben sits in the 24th qualifying position after session one.
Ben Lamay sits in 24th after session one.  Photo: Chris Weedon

In the rest of the field, Ryan Dungey sits on top of the Lites class with Jake Weimer right behind.  Dungey has a .02 second difference on Weimer. In the 450s, James Stewart sits on top with Josh Grant right behind.  Chad Reed did not lay down a fast lap in the first practice session as he could only run the 6th fastest time.  Stewart is having fun as he was pulling some no-footers off a few jumps.

Track conditions are soft.  The jump faces and corners are developing multiple deep ruts, which in a few areas are making the track tricky.  The track looks fast, but their are good size rocks being churned up in the sandy soil.

Practice session two is set to get under way here in 15 min.  Log back in for practice session two recap and photos from each session.

-CW

Updated 5:30pm - With the practice sessions over, the stage is set for tonight's race here at Quest Field.  The new rider to the BBMX team, Ben Lamay has shown us  what he is capable of by qualifying 13th in the Lites class.  Ben is really feeling good aboard the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX CRF250R and is looking to rail in tonight's race.

Both Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon are firmly in tonight's 450 field, with JT$ in the 19th spot and Kyle jumping up three spots to take the 23rd qualifying position.  All three riders are looking extremely well on the rutted and soft Seattle track.  Look for the BBMX crew to be up front battling for positions in tonight's race.

Ryan Dungey took the top qualifying spot in the Lites class, followed by Ryan Sipes, then Jake Weimer.  Dungey is looking very smooth and refreshed from the 8 week break.  Look for the fireworks to fly tonight between Dungey, Weimer and Sipes.
In the 450s,  James Stewart took the top spot followed by Chad Reed and Kevin Windham.  There's no shortage of fireworks in that class as well. James Stewart is running the track at 53.1, where Chad Reed is at 55.4.

The mechanics are working hard prepping the bikes for tonight's races, the riders are studying films from practice and mentally getting ready. The turnout here in Seattle is very good, with the BBMX pit area filled with fans throughout the day.

Opening ceremonies are set for 7pm tonight, so log back for all the action and photos from tonight's race.

Updated -10:30pm -BBMX team rider Ben Lamay had a decent showing for his first weekend with the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX team. After qualifying 13th, Lamay would barely miss a transfer spot in Lites heat two, finishing 11th.  He battled back from a back of the pack start.  Lamay would go to the LCQ, and after battling back from a bad start again, he would miss the main by 2 spots, finishing in 4th.

"I'm pleased with Ben's ride tonight, and if this is any indication Ben will be in the main at Salt Lake next weekend" says team manager Forrest Butler.

In the 450s, Jason Thomas would jump out early in the heat race running in 4th place, while Kyle Keylon would suffer a bad start in the same heat.  JT made some mistakes and fell back to 6th place, where he would finish and take a spot in the main event.  Keylon would finish 11th and would go to the LCQ.  Kyle would again suffer a bad start in the LCQ, and rode hard up to 7th before he lost his clutch lever bolt.  He would pull off on the last lap with his mechanical.

During the freestyle demo at intermission, one of the jagermeister freestyle riders overjumped and flat-landed the landing.  The Asterisk medical crew was right there to help him get back up, but he did not perform after that hard hit.

In the 450 main, Thomas skated pass a first turn pile up that took out Chad Reed.  JT rode hard in 12th, but faded back to 15th.  The trecherours rutted up track took it's toll on everyone tonight.

The Lites main would see Ryan Dungey take the win, as Jake Weimer got stuck in 4th.  In the 450 class, Ryan Villopoto would take the lead from early race leader Mike Alessi to take his first ever 450 main event win in front of his home crowd.  The crowd cheered himJames Stewart would finish 2nd while Reed salvaged a 7th.  Stewart takes over the points lead by 3 points leaving Seattle.

As the lights dim down on yet another Supercross, the series packs up and heads south to Salt Lake City for round 16 of the AMA supercross series.  The series is getting down to the end, and it's time to get dow and dirty!  Until next weekend, keep it pinned and grab the holeshot!

Ben Lamay joins the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX team for the last three rounds of Supercross.

(Miami, FL) - Starting at round 15 of the AMA Supercross series, Ben Lamay (Anchorage, AK) will join the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX team for the last three rounds, riding in the West coast Lites class.  Ben will be taking the place of BBMX team member Shaun Skinner, who is out for the rest of the season recovering from injuries sustained at the San Francisco supercross round back in February.

Ben is eager and excited to be a part of the Butlerbrothersmx team.  "I'm excited to be a part of the Butlerbrothersmx team and to show the team what I can do" Ben exclaimed as he was working with mechanics to set his bike up.

Team Manager Forrest Butler is also excited about having Ben join the team. "Ben has shown a lot of promise this year and with Skinner taking time off to heal, it is a great opportunity to give an up-and-coming rider a chance to show their potential" says Forrest Butler.

The Butlerbrothersmx team is set up and getting things ready for round 15 of the AMA Supercross series here at Quest Field in Seattle, WA.  The mechanics are preparing the bikes of Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon for tomorrow's race.  The weather here is beautiful.  Sunny and in the low 60s with a slight breeze.  Tomorrow's weather is looking to be the same as today, as there is no chance of rain.  Check out a few photos below of the BBMX pit area from Friday afternoon.

This week's host for the Smith Optics Track Walk is none other than our own David Pingree. Ping used to be a fast guy, but now he's in charge of other fast guys, and those guys return to action this weekend in Seattle when the series returns to the West.

Jacksonville, Florida- This past weekend at round fourteen of the AMA Supercross series, the DNA Energy Drink/BTO Sports.com/BBMX team rider named Jason Thomas was stellar in the 250 main event. Now he finished twelfth which is no reason to go and freak out or anything but we here at BBMX think he did pretty darn good considering his absolutely putrid start. The Florida native didn’t want to let all the fans down who got the free tickets and ate the free food provided by us and just like the little engine that could, climbed that mountain to twelfth.

He finishes the east coast 250 series in twentieth with finishes of 20-20-12-12-12 proving that sometimes even tiny people can achieve big things. Speaking of big things, his teammate Kyle “No, dad I didn’t win St Petersburg” Keylon didn’t qualify but the giant man on the little bike ended up seventeenth in the points and we’d like to congratulate him. There were some great rides put in by KK.

Our other riders must’ve not only crossed a black cat but maybe accidently ate one at one of those Chinese food places in the mall because they cannot get any luck. Bryan “Don” Johnson seems to be fighting back from injury after injury and Shaun “Mr” Skinner is racing the 450 and crashed out this weekend. Better things await those guys because nice guys don’t finish last. That’s what we heard anyways.

Oh yeah, a shout out to Stellar Graphics for giving the BBMX bikes a special look on Saturday night. We were back in black!

Round 14 of the AMA Supercross series comes back to the home state of the DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX team this weekend to Jacksonville, FL. This is the second stop in the sunshine state, as Daytona was the previous Florida round.  This round is significant as it is the first ever Supercross held in Jacksonville.  The city is excited and has shown great enthusiasm for Supercross.  The local media is even getting into the excitement, as our own BBMX riders were featured on a local Jacksonville morning news show.  Links to the segments to follow soon.

The BBMX team is also excited about the Jacksonville round and has done something different.  The bikes this weekend are fitted with black plastics!  Yea...instead of our normal red/white look, the bikes will be done up in black this weekend!  Have to do something for the inaugural SX event in Jacksonville.

The BBMX bikes are special for the Jacksonville race...Black and White!

Jason Thomas is ready to take on the Lites class again this weekend, after a 12th in Toronto.  JT is looking to better his Toronto performance and battle in the top ten for the Florida fans.  Kyle Keylon is over his ailment he had in Toronto, which relegated him to a 13th position, and is ready to push inside the top ten this weekend.

Shaun Skinner will be on the 450 again this weekend, getting in some valuable track time before the West coast Lites championship starts back up for their remaining two rounds in a few weeks.  Skin-dog is feeling better and is looking for better starts this weekend to put his BBMX 450 in the main for the Florida home crowd.

This weekend's track looks to have a few interesting obstacles that the riders have not seen before.  The dirt looks good, a bit on the loose side, but should be great for racing Sat. night.

Posted 3:30pm - With practice session one done, BBMX riders Jason Thomas, Bryan Johnson and Kyle Keylon look to be on track tonight.  JT is railing the Jacksonville track and is sitting in the 9th qualifying position. Kyle is right behind JT, in the 14th position and Bryan Johnson is showing well in the 17th spot.  In the 450s, BBMX rider Shaun Skinner is in the 26th qualifying spot at the moment.  Look for Skinner to move up as he gets more accustomed to the Jacksonville track.

James Stewart is fastest in the 450s over Chad Reed and Jos Grant.  Stewart is looking very comfortable and is a full second faster than Reed on the Jacksonville track.  In the Lites, Christophe Pourcel is looking crazy fast out on the track with Austin Stroupe and Matt LeMoine rounding out the top three.

The weather is beutiful and sunny here today, which is a big change from the weather reports from earlier this week.  The track is drying out quickly, much like San Diego did after practice one.  The water truck is out dousing the track with much needed water to keep the track in good shape for the second practice session.
With the sunny warm weather, the track will need to stay moist to keep it in good condition.

Practice session two is set to get under way here in a few minutes, be sure to log on after practice session two for more BBMX team news.

Posted 6:30pm - With practice over, all four BBMX riders are firmly in the field.  Jason Thomas is set in the Lites field in th 11th position, Kyle Keylon in the 15th spot and Bryan Johnson in the 21st position.  All three are ready for the drop of the gate tonight here in Jacksonville.  Shaun Skinner is in the 450 field tonight in the 29th spot on the grid.  The track is looking good for racing and all the BBMX riders are preparing for a good night.

James Stewart takes to top qualifying spot over Chad Reed, Josh Hill and Jason Lawrence, while Christophe Pourcell sits on top of the lites class over Austin Stroupe and Matt LeMoine.

The stage is set for tonight's race.  Log back on after the race for a BBMX post race wrap up of the night's events.

Posted 7:45pm - BBMX rider Jason Thomas finished 6th in the first Lites heat race after recovering from a mid pack start JT$ rode hard to place his DNA Energy Drink/BTOsports.com/BBMX bike in the top 10.  Kyle Keylon, while running 12th was involved in an altercation with another rider, so he will have to go to the LCQ tonight.  Tough break for Kyle.  In the Lites heat two, Bryan Johnson finished 11th after a 14th place start.  Bryan moved up steadily, but missed a qualifying position by two.  Bryan will join Kyle Keylon in the Lites LCQ.

Shaun Skinner had a rough heat race in the 450s.  Skinner, while running 12th, went down hard in turn 10.  Skinner will have to go to the LCQ to make the main.

Both Bryan Johnson and Kyle Keylon struggled to get the start they needed to transfer to the Lites main.  Kyle rode strong ton finish in the 6th position and Bryan finished right behind in 7th position.  The starts have been very important this year and tonight was no exception and hindered both Bryan and Kyle tonight.

Shaun Skinner did not start the LCQ due to his heat race crash.  He decided to not risk any more injuries and save himself for the last two rounds of the West coast Lites championship in a few weeks.

As the KTM freestyle demonstration entertains the crowd, the Lites riders are lining up at the gate for the Lites main event.
Check back for race recap of the main events later tonight.

Posted 10pm - Jason Thomas fought a back of the pack start and was stuck in a battle for 14th and 15th position.  JT dug deep in the late in the the main to finish in 12th again.  JT has been consistant with his 12th place finishes this season and shows that he is strong at the end of the mains.

The lites main saw Christophe Pourcel take the win with Wil Hahn and Austin Stroupe rounding out the top three.  Pourcel struggled with a bad start and battled with early race leader Will Hahn for a few laps before taking the lead for good.

The 450 main saw Mike Alessi pull the holeshot with James Stewart and Chad Reed in tow.  An altercation between Alessi and Jason Lawrence ended the night for Jlaw.  Alessi was able to pick himself back up and continue.  Reed would inheret the lead and for 2/3 of the main, it would be a battle between Reed and Stewart, with the gap between them being only 0.8 of a second most of the main. Stewart would take the lead on lap 13, but Reed would not back down as they would go back and forth four times. Stewart would eventually pull out and take the win here in Jacksonville. Reed would finish second and Kevin Windham would put himself back on the podium in third.

As the lights dim down and the crowd files out of the stadium, the series takes it's "spring break" next week for Easter. It's time that the riders and teams use to recharge and build up energy for the remaining three rounds.  We will be back in action in two weeks in Seattle, WA for round 15 of the AMA supercross series, where Shaun Skinner and the rest of the West Coast Lites Championship riders come back to finish their series.  The 450 championship is tighter than ever after tonight's race.

Tune in in two weeks for the BBMX seattle race day blog.  Until then, Keep it pinned and grab the holeshot!

The BBMX bikes go black and white for the inaugural Jacksonville SX.

The DNA Energy Drink/BTO sports.com/BBMX bikes are looking different this weekend for the Jacksonville round of the AMA Supercross series this weekend.  The team decided to do something totally different to celebrate the Florida round, which is home to both the BBMX team and the team sponsor DNA Energy Drinks.  Thanks goes out to mechanic Josh Marsh for the photo of the slick looking Black and white BBMX race bikes!

This week on the Smith Optics Track Walk I talked to the now injured Factory Kawasaki rider, Tim Ferry. Keep in mind that what he’s proposing here is what the normal riders will be jumping and not an indication of what he himself would actually jump. We all know that he would jump further than any other rider out there this Saturday if it wasn’t for him being hurt and missing the rest of the season.

To read what Tim Ferry has to say about the Jacksonville track, click on the link below:

The BBMX team has partnered with the Action Sports Medicine Foundation (ASMF) and the Children's Miracle Network of Jacksonville to provide an exciting and fun-filled day for 3 unfortunate local Jacksonville children and their parents at the Jacksonville SX on April 4th at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
Dr.Steve Augustine, founder of ASMF,  generously donated the tickets to the Childrens Miracle Network of Jacksonville, which then chose 3 children with various health issues and their parents to attend the Jacksonville SX, on behalf of the BBMX Racing team and ASMF. These unfortunate kids will get a chance to forget about their problems for a day and enjoy a spectacular Supercross experience that will include pit access, a track walk, a visit and tour the BBMX team semi, meet the BBMX racers to get autographs and pictures as well as take home some great BBMX swag as a way to remember their Supercross event. "This is a nice way to give back to the Jacksonville community and support one of the local charities at the same time",  said Forrest Butler ,the team's manager.

" I am happy that we can provide these kids and their parents an opportunity to enjoy themselves during such a  tough time in their lives. To see a smile on their faces makes it all worth it " said Dr Augustine, who resides in Jacksonville and is an Orthopedic Surgeon with the Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute at St Vincent's hospital. The ASMF program headquarters is based out of Jacksonville as  well.

DNA Energy Drink/BTO Sports.com/BBMX Place Two in Toronto, eh?

Toronto, Canada- In the land of back bacon and toques, the DNA Energy Drink/BTO Sports.com/BBMX supercross team placed two of its team’s riders in the 250 main event. Jason Thomas, almost half Canadian from his previous race experience up there and Kyle Keylon both made the main and did pretty well in getting twelfth and thirteenth respectively.

Kyle Keylon, Heat race one.  Photo: Chris Weedon

Normally we wouldn’t be that stoked with those places but you see Kyle was sick with some sort of virus that grabbed him when he crossed the border and wouldn’t let go. The good news is he holeshot the heat race on his WMI tuned bike and the bad news is we all saw what he ate all day as it was in the trashcan near the pits. JT did well to come from a start that saw him trailing the whole pack down the first straight. We’re not sure what he was doing but have reminded him of the whole five second thing when the card turns sideways. At the end of the first lap he was sixteenth and Keylon was nineteenth. All in all, a good showing for our 250 guys.

Our 450 rider Shaun “Mr” Skinner, didn’t make the main event but did get the coveted sixth place in the LCQ. “Our guys rode great tonight, JT’s start was horrible, Kyle was sick as a dog and Skinner competed hard” said team manager Forrest Butler “Now it’s onto Jacksonville where all the rider’s friends and family will come with their free tickets and eat free food at our pits”

The entire DNA Energy Drink/BTO Sports.com/BBMX team will take part in press day this weekend in Jacksonville where the local media will have a chance to interview our guys. On Friday the team will be signing autographs at a local Harley-Davidson dealership.
